Blaneo Garnacha 2021 a red wine made by the Pagos de Araiz winery, belonging to Masaveu Family Wineries, has been chosen as the best grenache wine in the Selección de los Vinos DO Navarra 2023. The blind tasting, that guarantees anonymity and was formed by an external panel of professional tasters, took place last week and was organized by the Regulatory Wine Board of Navarra. During the tasting, 161 samples from 43 different wineries from DO Navarra were tasted, with Blaneo Garnacha 2021 obtaining the highest points out of all of the grenache wines presented.

Blaneo Garnacha 2021 is a cherry red colour and has spent eight months in French and American oak barrels. This wine is fruit of the exclusive dedication and experimentation of this winery group’s experts who have carried out a careful selection of grenache varietal vineyards in several areas in the Low Mountain area of Navarra and carefully monitored the whole process, from pruning up to the harvest. The vineyards are over 80 years old, and consist of small plots spread out around several towns in Navarra. For Juan Glaría, oenologist at the winery, “this recognition has come six months after presenting and launching this product on the market, of which we have made only 5,000 bottles. We take great pride and motivation for continuing to make expressive, attractive wines with great personality and quality”.
It is not the first time that a wine from this winery has been chosen in this Selection, Pagos de Araiz Rosado 2020 wine was chosen as best rosé wine in 2021 and red Pagos de Araiz Roble 2017, Best Oak DO Navarra 2020.
Blaneo Garnacha 2021 can be found here in Masaveu Family Wineries’ online shop at a RRP of 15.80 €.
The wineries selected in other categories were Príncipe de Viana, Nekeas, Bodega de Sada, Finca Albret, Bodegas San Martín, Castillo de Monjardín, Olimpia, Valdelares and Ochoa.
Pagos de Araiz Winery

With the acquisition of the Pagos de Aráiz estate in Olite by the Masaveu Family in 2000, began a fresh and daring project in the traditional D.O. Navarra. This venture began with the construction of an ultra-modern 14,000 m2 château-style winery situated just outside the medieval town of Olite.
Over the following three years, on the 300-hectare estate, 240 hectares of family-owned vineyards were planted with several grape varietals (tempranillo, graciano, grenache, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay and syrah). The innovative management method and the wide variety of wine tourism activities connect the historical, natural and winemaking importance of the area to art and gastronomy. The ideal scenario for a brilliant and promising future, linked to the values of Navarra, a classical yet emerging winemaking territory.
Pagos de Araiz has two ranges: Blaneo and Pagos de Araiz. The Pagos de Araiz range has five wines, and the premium line Blaneo, has four high range wines which are monovarietal and limited production.
