Pagos de Araiz Rosado 2020 has been selected as the best rosé wine at the thirteenth edition of the Selección de los Vinos DO Navarra wine competition. The blind tasting, which guarantees anonymity and is formed by an external panel of professional experts, took place last week at the Head Office of the DO Navarra Regulating Council. The tasting consisted of 115 samples from 40 different wineries from DO Navarra, with Pagos de Araiz Rosado 2020 obtaining the best score.

According to the winery’s enologist Juan Glaría, “this prize recognises the effort and painstaking care with which the whole team works every day in the vineyards and the winery, in the hope of promoting wines from Navarra”.

Last year this winery from Navarra also won the prize Mejor Roble (Best Oak) DO Navarra 2020 when they presented their Pagos de Araiz Roble 2017. Coinciding that same year with this ranges new image on its labels, the launch of their new website www.bodegaspagosdearaiz.com and their new online shop www.tienda.masaveubodegas.es

The rest of the winners in the other categories of white wine, red grenache wine and sweet white wine, were Otazu Chadonnay 2020, Beramendi Crianza Tempranillo 2016, Albret La Loma 2019 and Valdelares Moscatel 2020.

Pagos de Araiz Winery

With the acquisition of the Pagos de Araiz estate in Olite by the Masaveu Family in 2000, began a fresh and daring project in the traditional D.O. Navarra. This venture began with the construction of an ultra-modern 14,000-m2 château-style winery situated just outside the medieval town of Olite.

Over the following three years, on the 300 hectare estate, 240 hectares of family-owned vineyards were planted with several grape varietals (tempranillo, graciano, grenache, merlot, cabernet sauvignon and syrah). Their innovative management method and the wide variety of wine tourism activities on offer connect the historical, natural and winemaking importance of the area to art and gastronomy. The ideal scenario for a brilliant and promising future, linked to the values of Navarra, a classical yet emerging winemaking territory.
