Ice Cider Valverán 20 Manzanas

Valverán was founded in 1998 and later became the first and most exclusive ice cider on the Iberian Peninsula. The name Valverán 20 manzanas comes from the quantity of apples required to make each 37.5 cl. bottle, given that they contain the concentrated juice of, at least, 20 apples.

This drink is achieved after a complex process of freezing at minus 20 degrees, fermentation for 10 months and aging on fine lees for 12 months. The whole process normally takes around two years from when the apples are picked until the bottle reaches the customer conserving its initial fruit and sensorial qualities.

This exclusive product was achieved thanks to the visionary nature of José Masaveu, managing director of Masaveu Family Wineries, this is his most personal project, involving almost ten years of research and trials. Amongst the five projects in Masaveu Family Wineries, this is the only one that is situated in the homeland of Asturias.

Today, 40 hectares of organic land in the Cider from Asturias Protected Designation of Origin, precisely on the El Rebollar Estate in Sariego (Asturias), with 20,000 apple trees growing 11 different varietals (Blanquina, Xuanina, Regona, Raxao, Fuentes, Collaos, De la Riega, Verdialona, Perico, Durona de Tresali and San Roqueña) enable us to produce a maximum 20,000 bottles of this distinguished ice cider full of nuances. This drink is fresh and surprising and pairs perfectly with foie, cheeses and not very sweet desserts.

Masaveu Wineries

The Masaveu family first invested in the wine sector in 1974 when they purchased the Murua Winery in DOCa Rioja, however the family’s first vineyards date back to the middle of the 19th century, precisely in Castellar del Vallés where the family originally comes from and where Federico Masaveu Rivell began a journey to be continued one century later by his descendants.

Since then, Masaveu Family Wineries has grown to become a leader in the sector due to the quality of their winemaking in different DO´s and their sustainable philosophy and utmost respect for the land in their estate owned vineyards, thanks to which they transmit the unique personality of each terroir in each and every bottle. This being the common denominator in each and every project led by Masaveu Family Wineries in different regions: Fillaboa (DO Rías Baixas), Leda (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León), Murua (DOCa. Rioja), Pagos de Araiz (DO Navarra) y Valverán (Asturias).
