The Spanish Association of Wine Journalists and Writers (AEPEV) has awarded the “Best White Wine” prize in the unoaked white wine category to the Fillaboa 2023 albariño, produced at Bodegas Fillaboa (D.O. Rías Baixas) and part of the prestigious Masaveu Wineries group.
Last Friday, April 25, the awards were presented in their 16th edition, evaluating a total of 1,456 wines and spirits, of which 239, from the 17 Autonomous Communities, were finalists. Fillaboa 2023 is one of the two wines from the entire D.O. Rías Baixas recognized by the organization, which highlights that “these AEPEV Awards honor the best products.”

This 100% Albariño white wine, aged for six months on fine lees in stainless steel tanks, is full of nuances, resulting in a fruity and fresh profile. With a straw-yellow color and a high aromatic intensity of ripe fruits, pineapple, apple, and citrus, it is balanced and persistent.
The grapes for this wine come from eight of the most representative and highest-quality vineyards of Finca Fillaboa, which range in age from 18 to 36 years.
This wine has been highly recognized both nationally and internationally. British Master of Wine Tim Atkin awarded it 93 points in his Rías Baixas 2024 Special Report. It also received 94 points in the Proensa Guide 2025, and 93 points in the Gourmets Guide 2025 as well as in the Vivir el Vino Guide.
Fillaboa Wineries
Fillaboa is a historic manor whose estate has remained undivided over the centuries, being one of the largest, most beautiful, and oldest estates in Galicia, and the only one that, due to its special characteristics, belongs to Grandes Pagos de España. Behind the 1,600 meters of the thick stone wall that protects the property, in addition to the vineyards, lie the winery and a spectacular reconstructed stately manor.
Fifty hectares of Albariño vineyards planted on rolling slopes make up the Fillaboa estate, which spans a total of 74 hectares divided into 12 plots along the natural border with Portugal, next to the Tea and Miño rivers.
