This year the Guía Peñín 2027 has acknowledged the white wines from Bodegas Murua (DOCa Rioja), awarding 96 points to their Murua Blanco Reserva Fermentado en Barrica 2018, and also two white wines from Bodegas Fillaboa (DO Rías Baixas) La Fillaboa 1898 2020, with 95 points, and Fillaboa Selección Finca Monte Alto 2023 with 93 points.
It is worth noting that three of the wines from these wineries formed part of the Recata de Peñín which seeks to finalise the scores of the best wines in Spain, precisely Murua Finca La Pedrita 2022, Fillaboa Selección Finca Monte Alto 2023 and La Fillaboa 1898 2020. In total, six wines from Bodegas Murua and three from Bodegas Fillaboa, obtained over 90 points.
In this edition, the Guía Peñín has tested and rated 9,400 wines made by around 2,000 Spanish wineries, making it one of the most influential recommendation and reference tools in the wine sector. Its work helps to highlight the excellence and diversity of Spanish wines both on the domestic market and in the main international markets.
These wines, made by the Murua and Fillaboa wineries, belonging to the wine group Masaveu Family Wineries, share the same essence: they come from estate vineyards and are the maximum expression of their origins. Each wine transmits the authenticity, character and personality of the terroir where it is born, through limited editions that reflect the uniqueness of each landscape and harvest.
Masaveu Family Wineries
The Masaveu family first invested in the wine sector in 1974, when they purchased Bodegas Murua, however the family’s first vineyards date back to the middle of the 19th century, in Castellar del Vallés, where the family originates from and where Federico Masaveu Rivell began a journey to be continued one century later by his descendants.
Since then, Masaveu Family Wineries has grown to become a leader in the sector due to the quality of their winemaking in different DO´s and their sustainable philosophy and utmost respect for the land in their estate owned vineyards, thanks to which they transmit the unique personality of each terroir in each and every bottle. This being the common denominator in each and every project led by Masaveu Family Wineries in different regions: Fillaboa (DO Rías Baixas), Leda (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León), Murua (DOCa. Rioja) and Valverán (Asturias).
