Murua Wineries, located in Elciego and part of the Masaveu Wineries wine group, will host 2,200 participants of the Wine Run Rioja Alavesa on Sunday, October 27. Runners and walkers alike will cross the estate where the winery is located, enjoying the beautiful vineyard views on both sides of the path and the scenic beauty framed by the winery building, all set to the music of DJ Fran Ríos, as the winery celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
Participants will also be able to taste at Murua the wine specially designed with a unique label that captures the sporting spirit of this event and the winery’s passion for art, which any sports and wine enthusiast can purchase at the winery’s shop or here in the online store of this wine group.
This is the seventh edition of this sports, gastronomic, and cultural event. It has been held in Rioja Alavesa since 2016. This year it returns to the town of Elciego, and in addition to Murua, two other wineries in the area Viña Salceda and Fos Wineries are part of the route.

In addition, Murua opens its doors from Thursday, October 24 to Saturday, October 26 so that all participants of the Wine Run Rioja Alavesa 2024 who wish to visit this winery can do so exclusively by booking in advance. Murua offers them the opportunity, free of charge, to explore the winemaking process and discover, while touring the interior, details and stories that are part of the tradition and working philosophy of this winery. For those registered who want to enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience combining two great passions of Masaveu Bodegas—art and wine—they just need to book the visit on the Murua Wineries website or directly here, indicating the bib number assigned by the organization.
About Murua Wineries and Masaveu Wineries
Murua Wineries is located in the beautiful village of Elciego, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. Surrounded by stunning landscapes, the main noble building retains the structure of the traditional manor houses typical of this area. The Masaveu family acquired this winery in 1974, making it the first of five wineries that today form Masaveu Wineries, a renowned Spanish wine group, already present in five strategic geographical indications: Murua (D.O.Ca. Rioja), Fillaboa (D.O. Rías Baixas), Pagos de Araiz (D.O. Navarra), Leda (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León), and the ice cider Valverán (Asturias).
Since then, Masaveu Winerieshas grown to become a benchmark for the quality of its wines across different DOs, as well as for its environmental philosophy and utmost respect for the land, where it owns its own vineyards, allowing it to convey the unique personality of each terroir in every bottle.
