Murua Wineries joins the Association of Wineries for Quality.

This winery, located in Elciego and part of the Masaveu Wineries group, has recently joined the Association of Wineries for Quality (ABC), which includes Bodegas Martínez Lacuesta and La Rioja Alta, S.A., Wineries Muga, Gómez Cruzado, Castle of Cuzcurrita, Torre de Oña, Valenciso, Wineries Valdemar, Wineries Miguel Merino, and, more recently, Wineries Macán (Wineries Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia) and Wineries Aiurri, the Rioja winery belonging to Alma Carraovejas, also a recent addition.

With these new additions, the Association of Wineries for Quality now brings together 12 prestigious flagship wineries of the DOCa Rioja, all committed to a common goal: excellence. Founded in 2002, the Association of Wineries for Qualityas holds a 6% market share —including brands of great value and historical significance within the Denomination— and has a presence in 129 countries, representing a relevant and active voice in the sector. Its work focuses on promoting the quality of Rioja wine through real, consistent, and sustainable policies, always with a deep respect for the vineyard and the natural environment.

This winery joins the Association’s project, strengthening the vision and model promoted by ABC for the Denomination: a vision of Rioja based on quality and added value, which is increasingly supported by leading wineries, with the Association working to enhance the recognition of value in terms of prestige, uniqueness, and quality.

Bodegas Murua, part of the Masaveu family wineries since 1974 and the first of this major winemaking group, is an example of balance between tradition and innovation. It owns low-yield vineyards, some over 60 years old, and follows a philosophy focused on the highest quality. Murua produces elegant red wines characterized by long and careful aging in both barrel and bottle, using grapes exclusively from its own vineyards, reflecting the essence of the terroir.
