Fillaboa Wineries, located in Salvatierra de Miño (Pontevedra), has been recognized by the prestigious British Master of Wine Tim Atkin in his Rías Baixas 2023 Special Report for its outstanding work in viticulture, thanks to the efforts of Antonio González, Field Manager at Fillaboa Wineries, and his entire team. In addition, the critic and journalist awarded 96, 94, and 92 points, respectively, to the three 100% Albariño wines produced at this winery in the province of Pontevedra: La Fillaboa 1898 2016, Fillaboa Selección Finca Monte Alto 2020, and Fillaboa 2022.
Likewise, the article highlights what the winemaker of Fillaboa Wineries told Tim Atkin during his visit to the winery last July about Fillaboa’s Albariño wines: “they are balanced and fresh wines.”
About Wineries Fillaboa
Fillaboa is a historic estate whose property has remained undivided throughout the centuries, making it one of the largest, most beautiful, and oldest estates in Galicia—and the only one that, due to its unique characteristics, belongs to Grandes Pagos de España. Behind the 1,600 meters of the thick stone wall that protects the estate lie, in addition to the vineyards, the winery and a spectacular restored manor house.
Fifty hectares of Albariño vineyards planted on rolling slopes make up the Fillaboa estate, which spans a total of 74 hectares divided into 12 plots along the natural border with Portugal, next to the Tea and Miño rivers. The rich soils and Atlantic climate, with mild temperatures due to the proximity of the sea, make Fillaboa a privileged place for the cultivation of the native Albariño grape.
