Masaveu Wineries wins five Double Gold Medals at Gilbert & Gaillard 2023, one for each winery

The wines from the Masaveu Wineries wine group — specifically those produced at the Fillaboa winery (DO Rías Baixas), Leda (Castilla y León), Murua (DOCa Rioja), Pagos de Araiz (DO Navarra), and the ice cider from Llagar Valverán (Asturias) — have received high distinctions in the latest edition of the Gilbert & Gaillard Competition. In fact, they have earned 10 Gold Medals and 5 Double Gold Medals among all the wines from their four wineries and one cider house presented in this edition.

The five wines selected with the highest distinction were: Fillaboa Selección Finca Monte Alto 2020 (92 points), Leda Viñas Viejas 2019 (91 points), VS Murua 2020 (90 points), Blaneo Syrah 2020 (90 points), and Valverán 20 Apples 2020 (90 points).

Masaveu Wineries

The Masaveu family began investing in the wine sector in 1974 with the establishment of Murua Wineries in the D.O.Ca. Rioja. However, the family’s vineyard plantations date back to the mid-19th century in Castellar del Vallès, their place of origin, where Federico Masaveu Rivell took the first steps that his descendants would continue a century later.

Since then, Masaveu Wineries has grown to become a benchmark for the quality of its wines across different Designations of Origin and for its environmental philosophy and deep respect for the land. The winery owns its own vineyards, which allow it to express the unique personality of each terroir in every bottle. In this way, all the projects undertaken by Masaveu Wineries across different regions share a common purpose: Fillaboa (D.O. Rías Baixas), Leda (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León), Murua (D.O.Ca. Rioja), Pagos de Araiz (D.O. Navarra), and Valverán (Asturias).
