VS Murua 2020, made the Murua winery in Álava, situated in la Rioja Alavesa, in Elciego village, and belonging to the wine group Masaveu Family Wineries, has won a Great Gold Medal in the fourth edition of the Vinos Real Casino de Madrid Competition. The Jury, formed by a team of experts with ample national and international experience, awarded 23 Great Gold, 79 Gold and 85 Silver medals to wines from all over Spain.
This competition promotes the winning wines in 280 important social clubs in Spain and abroad, and its goal is to “showcase, highlight and diffuse the enormous diversity and wealth of wines made in Spain, boosting wine culture and its social and economic significance”.
The Royal Casino Madrid was founded in 1836 and is one of the world’s most important private social clubs. The Clubhouse is situated in a unique building declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1993, and houses outstanding pieces of art.

VS Murua, a red Rioja wine with a large personality, elegance and fruity expression, has renewed its labelling for this 2020 vintage This wine is seductive and reflects the land where it originates, the Sierra Alavesa, and comes from a fantastic vintage for wine lovers as is 2020.
This wine and M de Murua are the two modern style wines that the winery makes, in which the raw material, i.e., the grapes, play the leading role, this being the reason that the vineyards, located around the winery, are painstakingly cared for.
VS Murua is a red wine that has been aged for 16 months in French and American oak barrels, made with 90% tempranillo varietal grapes and 10% mazuelo varietal.
It boasts a lovey, bright red hue with violet reflections, an intense fruity aroma and is elegant, smooth, fresh and pleasant on the palate, with a long, moreish and conquering finish.

Murua Winery, belonging to Masaveu Family Wineries, is situated in the beautiful village of Elciego, right in the heart of the Rioja Alavesa. In the beautiful landscapes surrounding the winery, a noble main building maintains the structure of the typical manor houses in the area.
