Masaveu Wineries proposes the Albariño from the “good daughter,” Fillaboa, to toast all the mothers of the world on their special day.

There’s no one like a mother, and each of ours is unique. They truly deserve that on May 1st, Mother’s Day, we show them our appreciation for their support and unconditional love. In addition to showering them with affection on this day—and always—Masaveu Wineries suggests expressing gratitude for their constant dedication with Fillaboa 2021, a delicious Rías Baixas wine full of nuances—fruity, aromatic, and fresh.

Fillaboa, in Galician; “good daughter,” in Spanish, comes from the historic Fillaboa Estate, a 50-hectare vineyard located between the Tea and Miño rivers, specifically in Salvatierra de Miño, in the province of Pontevedra.

The production of this 100% Albariño wine focuses on enhancing the primary aromas of the Albariño grape along with the uniqueness of the terroir, resulting in harmonious white wines with good structure. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 14ºC and 16ºC. Afterwards, it is kept in tanks on fine lees for a minimum of 6 months.

The result is an Albariño white wine that displays a clean and bright straw-yellow color. On the nose, it offers high-intensity aromas of ripe fruits such as pineapple, apple, mango, and citrus. On the palate, it is balanced, fresh, and persistent. It is recommended to serve it at a temperature between 8 and 10ºC.

Fillaboa, along with the other labels from Masaveu Wineries, can be purchased through the wine group’s online store. Visitors to the Fillaboa Winery website, as well as the sites of the company’s other wineries, can access the group’s online store, view all the products, and purchase the wines directly from the wineries in a quick and easy way.

Recommended retail price for Fillaboa: €13.40

Fillaboa Wineries

Fillaboa is a historic estate that has remained undivided over the centuries, making it one of the largest, most beautiful, and oldest in Galicia, and the only one that, due to its unique characteristics, belongs to Grandes Pagos de España. Behind the 1,600 meters of the thick stone wall that protects the estate lie, in addition to the vineyards, the winery and a spectacular restored manor house.

Fifty hectares of Albariño grape vineyards planted on gently rolling hills make up the Fillaboa estate, which spans a total of 74 hectares divided into 12 plots along the natural border with Portugal, next to the Tea and Miño rivers, specifically in Salvatierra de Miño, in the province of Pontevedra. The rich soils and Atlantic climate, with mild temperatures due to the proximity of the sea, make Fillaboa a privileged location for cultivating the native Albariño grape.

Masaveu Wineries

The Masaveu family began investing in the wine sector in 1974 with the acquisition of Murua Winery, although the family’s vineyard plantations date back to the mid-19th century in Castellar del Vallès, their place of origin, where Federico Masaveu Rivell took the first steps that his descendants would continue a century later.

Since then, Masaveu Wineries has grown to become a benchmark for the quality of its wines across different Designations of Origin and for its environmental philosophy and deep respect for the land. The winery owns its own vineyards, which allow it to express the unique personality of each terroir in every bottle. In this way, all the projects undertaken by Masaveu Wineries across different regions share a common purpose: Fillaboa (D.O. Rías Baixas), Leda (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León), Murua (D.O.Ca. Rioja), Pagos de Araiz (D.O. Navarra), and Valverán (Asturias).
