Bodegas Murua launches its most premium wine, Finca La Pedrita.

Murua Wineries has just launched its most premium wine, Finca La Pedrita, a true object of desire due to the mastery of the artisanal work with which it was crafted, using a selection of the best clusters from the centenary Finca La Pedrita, located in Laguardia and possessing unique characteristics.

The new wine that Murua Wineries is presenting in its 50th Anniversary year comes specifically from the San Pedro site—hence the name of the wine—a century-old estate located at an altitude of 534 meters and covering just over three thousand square meters. Planted in 1920 and acquired by Murua Wineries in 2020, it took only one vintage for the winery’s oenology team to recognize that it was a truly special vineyard and decide to produce the wine separately and in a distinct way. The estate lies on well-preserved loamy soil with a high carbonate content, a good percentage of organic matter, and large slabs of limestone. All these characteristics provide exceptional conditions for a great soil that seeks its fullest expression through the clusters that grow within it.

For its production, the winery selects the best whole clusters of Viura and Malvasía, placing them one by one at the bottom of a 600-liter open barrel. Next, it is filled with destemmed Tempranillo and Graciano grapes. The wine ferments with native yeasts and, after alcoholic fermentation, it undergoes 17 months of aging in new French oak barrels.

Finca La Pedrita represents oenological excellence. It not only enriches Bodegas Murua’s portfolio but also offers wine lovers the opportunity to enjoy a great wine, crafted with great care and dedication. ,” explains José Masaveu, General Manager of Masaveu Bodegas.

This is a limited edition, with only 329 bottles produced, currently available for members of the Masaveu Bodegas Wine Club, which wine lovers can join through this link, and from December 9th for the general public here.

About Masaveu Wineries

The Masaveu family began investing in the winemaking sector in 1974, when they acquired Bodegas Murua, but the family’s vineyard plantings date back to the mid-19th century, specifically in Castellar del Vallés, where the family originates and where Federico Masaveu Rivell started the steps that a century later would be continued by his descendants.

Since then, Masaveu Wineries has grown steadily with a strong commitment to quality in the production of its wines across different DOs, embracing an ecological philosophy and utmost respect for the land, where it owns its own vineyards, allowing them to convey the unique personality of each terroir in every bottle. In this way, all of Masaveu Bodegas’ projects across different parts and regions of the country come together under a common denominator: Murua (DOCa. Rioja), Fillaboa (DO. Rías Baixas), Pagos de Araiz (DO. Navarra), Leda (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León), and Valverán (Asturias).
