The Valladolid winery Leda, located in Tudela de Duero and part of Masaveu Wineries, received a Gold Medal yesterday for its wine Leda Viñas Viejas 2019 at the CINVE competition, held at the NH Collection Eurobuilding Hotel in Madrid.
In this nineteenth edition, more than 700 wines from different countries were submitted, of which 72 —including Leda Viñas Viejas— scored over 90 points and were awarded the Gold Medal. The jury was made up of a diverse panel including sommeliers, winemakers, and specialized journalists.
Leda Viñas Viejas, an organic multi-terroir Tempranillo
Leda Viñas Viejas 2019 is the wine that embodies the principles of Leda. It is a multi-terroir wine, which comes from different plots that are produced separately. The vineyards from which this wine comes are organic, are between 70 and 100 years old, and are spread throughout the Duero Valley.
This 100% Tempranillo wine, classified as Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León and aged for 23 months in French, American, and Spanish oak barrels, displays an intense, bright cherry-red color with high depth. It offers aromas of red and black fruits, spices, and toasted nuances. Complex and well-structured, it is powerful, rich, fruity, and balanced on the palate. Only 11,607 bottles of 0.75 liters and 482 magnums of this wine have been produced.

You can purchase this wine here at the Masaveu Wineries online store.
Extraordinary multi-terroir wines
Speaking about Leda, located in Tudela de Duero (Valladolid), means speaking about unique and extraordinary wines that embody sweetness and sensuality; about an appealing “multi-terroir” winery concept that connects the personality of the Tempranillo grape with the expression of selected organic vineyards from different areas of Castilla y León. This winery was founded in 1998 by the renowned winemaker Mariano García, who has been involved in some of Spain’s most important wine projects, and the Masaveu family joined the project in 2009. Leda stands out for its philosophy of organic farming, producing wines from various areas of Castilla y León united by the Duero River, and for its utmost respect for the vineyard.
