Leda Wineries, situated in Tudela de Duero in Valldolid, has received two important awards in the latest edition of the international contest CINVE 2024, in which two of their wines: Más de Leda 2020 and Guarda de Leda Selección 2019 both received Gold Medals.

With these awards, the winery belonging to Masaveu Family Wineries has once again achieved the acknowledgement of this contest’s international jury, formed by sommeliers, oenologists and wine writers, which last year awarded the winery another Gold medal and over 90 points, to Leda Viñas Viejas 2019. “A prize like this is always very much appreciated because it is very gratifying for us that the effort and work that all of the team at Leda Wineries carries out in order to make great, excellent and sustainable, multiterroir wines with old tempranillo wines is recognised.” Says Miguel Rivero, oenologist at Leda Wineries.

The 20th edition of this contest, which took place a few days ago in Cáceres, included wines made in all parts of Spain and in countries such as Argentina, Australia and Germany, amongst others, which makes the gold achieved by Más de Leda and Guarda de Leda Selección, two of the wines made by Leda Wineries, even more prestigious.

Más de Leda 2020 is an authentic, artisan, intense and balanced wine. The jury of these awards has taken into account its elegance and its origin in 40 to 60-year-old organic vineyards. This red wine is fruit of the integration of different tempranillo plots, and seeks to reflect the essence of the area where it originates, mainly Toro, Cigales and Tudela de Duero. With this vintage the winery only made 27,273 bottles of 0.75 litres, 600 magnum bottles, 40 bottles of 3 litres and 20 bottles of 5 litres. This wine pairs very well with barbecues, grilled vegetables and red and white meats.

As for Guarda de Leda Selección 2019, this is the winery’s super premium wine, it comes from the oldest, organic plots at Leda Wineries, which are almost 100 years old and have very low yields. This is a signature wine, made with 100% organic tempranillo grapes, which is only made with certain vintages, when the fruit is excellent. The limited edition Guarda de Leda Selección 2019, with 32 months in barrel, produced 5,628 bottles. This wine is firm, elegant, direct and excellent on the palate and pairs well with stews and red meats and grills.

Masaveu Family Wineries

The Masaveu family first invested in the wine sector in 1974, when they purchased Murua Wineries in Rioja Alavesa, however the family’s first vineyards date back to the middle of the 19th century, precisely in Castellar del Vallés, where the family originates from and where Federico Masaveu Rivell began a journey to be continued one century later by his descendants.

Since then, Masaveu Family Wineries has grown to become a reference in the sector, due to the quality of their winemaking in several DO´s and their sustainable philosophy and utmost respect for the land in their estate owned vineyards, thanks to which they transmit the unique personality of each terroir in every bottle. This being the common denominator in each and every project initiated by Masaveu Family Wineries in different parts of the country: Fillaboa (DO Rías Baixas), Leda (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León), Murua (DOCa Rioja), Pagos de Araiz (DO Navarra) and Valverán (Asturias).
