Mother’s Day is a day to thank and surprise all the mothers in the world, a day filled with many “I love you, mom,” whether from close by or from the farthest distance.

Bodegas Masaveu encourages us to celebrate this day with Fillaboa 2019. This Albariño wine from Rías Baixas is, if only for its name (Fillaboa, in Galician; good daughter, in Spanish), a true tribute to the “good daughters.”
Legend has it that in the origins of the A Fillaboa estate, which date back to the 19th century, the beautiful daughter of a count, humiliated by her sisters out of envy, became the heir to the best lands her father had. Her good work had the deserved recognition, admiration, love, and tenderness of a fair father,
hence the name of the Estate.
Fillaboa 2019 is an Albariño full of nuances, it is fruity, aromatic, and fresh. It is made with grapes from the historic Finca Fillaboa, from a vineyard of 54 hectares, located on undulating slopes that border, in its southern part, the Tea and Miño rivers, a natural border with Portugal, and has six months of aging on its lees. It is an ideal wine to celebrate this recognition that mothers deserve. Recommended retail price: €12.90

Fillaboa Wineries
Fillaboa is a historic pazo whose estate has remained
indivisible throughout the centuries, being one of the
largest, most beautiful, and oldest estates in Galicia, and the only one in
this region that, due to its special characteristics,
belongs to Grandes Pagos de España. Behind the 1,600
meters of the thick stone wall that protects the
property, are hidden, in addition to the vineyards, the winery
and a spectacular rebuilt stately pazo.
54 hectares of Albariño grape vineyards planted on undulating slopes make up the Fillaboa estate, which comprises a total of 74 hectares spread over 12 pagos. The sandy-loam soils, with an abundance of pebbles and the Atlantic climate, with mild temperatures due to the proximity of the sea, make Fillaboa a privileged place for the cultivation of the native grape, the Albariño grape.
Masaveu Wineries
The Masaveu family acquired their first winery, Murua Winery, in 1974, but the family’s vineyard plantations date back to the mid-19th century, specifically in Castellar del Vallés, where the family originates and where Federico Masaveu Rivell began the steps that a century later would be continued by his descendants. Since then, Masaveu Wineries has grown to become a benchmark, known for the quality of its wines produced in various DOs: Murua (DOCa Rioja), Fillaboa (DO Rías Baixas), Pagos de Aráiz (DO Navarra), Leda (Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León), and Valverán (Asturias).
